SHARKS AT THE WATERFRONT
The Consumer Council’s Illegal Money Lending and Financial Services Team was represented at NICS Live Belfast at ICC Waterfront on Wednesday 15th May by Scott Kennerley (Director of Financial Services).
NICS Live is the biggest event of the Northern Ireland Public Sector calendar, bringing together over 1,500 delegates, eager to share, learn and network and attracting the most senior figures from across the public service.
The Consumer Council’s exhibition stand promoted the organisation’s work in representing Northern Ireland consumers’ interests in areas of statutory remit (power, transport, post, and water) but the Illegal Money Lending Team’s new StopLoanSharks NI campaign also featured prominently and attracted a lot of curious attention from delegates.
Scott Kennerley commented: “As a relatively new team within The Consumer Council, we were keen to raise awareness of the work we are doing to tackle the scourge of illegal money lending within local communities in Northern Ireland. The NICS Live Event presented a wonderful opportunity to speak with key Public Sector stakeholders and identify potential partnering opportunities. We were tremendously encouraged by the positive response to the campaign and its objectives from colleagues within the civil service. We have no doubt that some of the introductions made at the event could lead to exciting opportunities for innovative future working relationships”.
